01. RESEARCH
literature review
I started with a literature research report to understand how digital platforms can recreate the museum experience online. Digital art museums break physical boundaries by offering global access, expanding educational opportunities, and preserving art digitally for future generations. These platforms promote cultural appreciation and provide interactive, user-centered experiences, with easy navigation and educational resources like detailed artwork descriptions and expert commentary. The focus is on accessibility, personalization, and enhancing engagement through multimedia and social features like sharing and commenting.

The competitive analysis highlighted key strengths and weaknesses of similar platforms, focusing on user engagement, navigation ease, and feature offerings. While some platforms excel in community interaction, others lack intuitive designs that enhance user experiences. Identifying these gaps allowed us to pinpoint opportunities for ArtRealm, ensuring it meets user needs more effectively.

To understand the needs and expectations of potential users, I conducted interviews focused on exploring art platforms. These interviews helped us gather insights on how users prefer to interact with artworks, search for specific pieces, and what they expect from a virtual art museum experience.
02. MODELING & ANALYSIS

The single-case analysis focused on individual user behaviors, motivations, and challenges in navigating online art platforms. Through the cross-case analysis, I identified common themes across users, such as a shared desire for better search features, engaging with like-minded communities, and accessing immersive virtual tours.

The decision tree diagrams highlighted critical moments in the user journey, emphasizing how decisions around art exploration and sharing influence their overall experience. The activity diagrams helped us map the flow of user actions, ensuring a smooth and interactive journey through the platform.
03. DESIGN FOUNDATIONS
user persona and customer journey mapping (CJM)
I created the user persona and Customer Journey Map (CJM) based on insights from the interviews. These tools helped in understanding users’ motivations, behaviors, and needs when interacting with both physical and virtual art platforms. The user persona represents a typical user with a love for creative self-expression and a desire to engage with art communities. The CJM captures the user’s journey from discovering the platform to interacting with the artwork and community.

I developed user scenarios based on the insights gathered from interviews, focusing on two main use cases: Uploading and sharing artwork & Exploring and interacting with virtual art
04. DESIGN FRAMEWORK
features and functionalities
After completing user personas and analyzing insights, I prioritized key features like interactive art exploration, semi-AI-powered search, virtual tours, artist stories, and a chronicles section. These functionalities align with the users' needs for sharing, discovering, and engaging with art.
information architecture & UX flows
Based on prioritized features, I created the Information Architecture (IA) to outline the structure and navigation. The user flows map how users interact with the platform, guiding them through tasks like uploading art and exploring virtual galleries. These flows ensure a smooth and engaging user experience.
05. DESIGN DETAILS
low-fidelity wireframes
I started by creating low-fidelity wireframes to outline the fundamental structure and layout of the platform. These wireframes focused on functionality and user flow, ensuring a clear and intuitive navigation experience.

After developing the low-fidelity wireframes, I conducted usability testing to gather user feedback on interaction and ease of use. This testing phase provided insights that guided necessary adjustments and improvements to enhance the user experience.
